Split Screen View

A
Mackenzie

Being able to work on/view two different scenes or chapters at one time would be cool.

Edit: Hi, Adam from the Campfire team here, hijacking this thread a bit to help clean up the feature requests! I'm using this as a place to compile all the split view comments, not just ones for Manuscript as the original poster suggested. Thanks!

I would love to have this feature to not only see different scenes, but have a screen on one side and something else (Characters/Locations/Wiki) etc., propped up on the other side, similar to Scrivener. That would be amazing!

I have a large character list and needed to reference attributes of a certain character in the manuscript. Having to flip back and forth between tabs seems cumbersome. The option for a split-screen interface would be great, not only for that, but also for referencing something in an earlier chapter of the manuscript.

I agree with everything that's been stated before; I think that it would be particularly useful in the desktop app with helping me focus; while writing my manuscript, I can reference character notes and/or encyclopedia entries to maintain my own consistency without having to flip tabs. Everyone has their own style of work, and for me it helps if I can see everything I need to all at once. I'm sure there are other writers who operate on an ultrawide (as I do) for this specific purpose.

The tab feature is great, but it would be nice to be able to have an option to do a split view or move to new window so we can easily look at two or more tabs simultaneously. Look to most PDF and document editing software like Adobe for examples

What I’m suggesting:

Having the chance of splitting the screen and having two different things on the screen at once.

Why I’m suggesting it:

I’ve found myself in the circumstance of wanting to transfer as an Encyclopedia article parts of what I did include in Timeline events.

I’ve seen there is a request for a split screen in the manuscript module, but thinking of the interface ability to show more than one “thing” at a time seems more useful. It includes the ability to have two manuscript elements, but also the ability to have any two elements on screen at once.

Yes! I was looking to see if there was some way to view two projects side by side. I hate using tabs when working on two connected projects. In Campfire Pro, I can open the two projects simultaneously, but with the Campfire Write app, there's just a single interface... with tabs. This is one of the reasons I dislike the browser version and only really became interested when they made a desktop app.

Or if the split side of the screen could be used for anything, the way you can do in Scrivener. I'd love to be able to reference stuff from the Research module without leaving my manuscript.

This or a quick edit feature. Sometimes I need to jump between scripts and right now I'm working with google docs and campfire in separate windows.
