Update backend to allow background saving

It appears you're using some framework like React to render the pages. It would be nice if you made it so updates could happen in the background. I always find myself losing my flow by typing something and needing to check some detail in the characters or encyclopedia tabs. However, each time, I get the alert saying that I'm not allowed to move away until the full save happens. I don't see why the save couldn't happen in the background.
